Decide whose identity needs changing
Custom creates the companion you speak to. Your saved Persona defines your own part in a conversation instead. If an existing companion already fits, a new opening situation may be enough; another character is not necessary every time you want a different scene.
For a new companion, keep the identity original. Do not recreate a celebrity, someone you know or a private individual using their identifying details. Choose a clearly adult fictional person and keep the premise within our content rules, however realistic the appearance you select.
Write a personality that can show itself
Imagine an adult botanical illustrator who notices small differences, enjoys explaining discoveries and dislikes being rushed. An opening about choosing a plant for an exhibition gives those traits something to do. A focused interest and a way of responding are more useful than a list of contradictory qualities.
Choose a realistic or anime direction for the look, then consider hair, eyes, clothing and other appearance preferences separately. A voice concerns supported audio, not the character's knowledge or temperament. Give the background and behavior their own clear description.
Review what you are creating and what you may edit
Use the character-creation walkthrough for the full sequence. Review the appearance preview, identity and Moments total before confirming. Additional custom characters are listed at 500 Moments; first-character access should be checked against the eligibility shown in your account.
An initial personality setup is different from later personality editing, which requires Ultimate. Character Studio also treats appearance changes and public-character updates differently. Public changes use a draft and review process, so do not expect every edit to become visible to everyone immediately.
Questions and answers
How much background should I prepare before starting?
Write enough to explain the adult character's role, interests and response style. Save unrelated life details for later rather than making the first conversation carry an entire biography.
Will changing a look update every other character detail?
Do not assume so. Appearance, personality and public-version review have distinct controls. Check the relevant Character Studio options before applying a change.
Does Free provide 100 new custom-character messages each day?
No. The documented custom-character cap is 100 messages in total, not another daily allowance. Check current eligibility and how it applies alongside daily text access before planning a long conversation.
