Make the opening easy to answer
Read a character from our companion selection and give the introduction a purpose. You could be fictional adults choosing a workshop for a neighborhood festival: one wants something practical, the other wants a surprising activity. Ask for an opinion instead of scripting both sides.
Use invented names and circumstances when you need a detailed role. Neither a lively conversation nor a realistic portrait calls for passwords, financial information or facts identifying somebody else. Our companions generate fictional responses; there is no human operator speaking as the character.
Choose the shape of the exchange
SMS favors a shorter presentation, while Paragraph supports longer responses. Chat mode and thinking level are separate controls. Use the reply-control guide when the exchange needs adjusting, and avoid repeatedly sending a message simply because the first answer is taking longer.
Changing your own role and adding more companions are different choices. Saved Personas describe who you play; Group conversations bring several companions together. Neither is a reason to treat an existing conversation as the right place for every unrelated story.
Keep the history you mean to continue
Return to the existing thread when its events still matter, or begin separately when you want a different premise. Archiving allows later restoration; resetting removes history. Time Travel and edits to older messages can remove later exchanges, so read the history options before changing the past.
A missing thread and an account you cannot open need different checks. Look for archived conversations, then use account-access guidance for a sign-in problem. Support needs an account reference and an approximate time, not a password pasted into a chat.
Questions and answers
Am I speaking to the person shown in the portrait?
No. The portrait, name and voice belong to a fictional AI identity. They do not identify a human correspondent or someone available to meet.
Are ordinary messages billed as Moments?
Basic text chat follows your plan allowance rather than a per-message Moments debit. Media requested during the conversation has its own access requirements and charges.
What is the first check for a conversation I cannot find?
Look in the archived conversations under User Settings. If it is still missing, give support the account email and approximate time without sharing login credentials.
